Aside

i first met Ryan a year ago when i started school at Summit. I admit that I don’t remember too many deep meaningful conversations, but I did learn he was in the missions program and (at the time) was in his third year.
I got to know Ryan just a bit over the semester – learning his brother was working at the hostel I worked at in Amsterdam. (randommmmm!) topics discussed usually floated around missions, his brother in amsterdam, underoath or any other band we liked.

i remember thinking he was cool and interesting,  but i had no way of really getting to know him.

……

fast forward.

In september or october Ryan posted on his facebook asking if anyone wanted to go to Mutemath. I want to! so i commented yes!

quickly we started talking more, soon we were in the library studying more, going to wired monk to do homework more, finding excuses to hang out more. At the end of November and into December there were probably only a few days we didn’t see each other.
–i liked him. i didn’t understand how we didn’t connect so much before. ((duh. God’s timing!))

…the day ryan left to go back to sask. for Christmas he told me he liked me. yes. i remember i could hardly eat that day. i was excited.

3 long weeks later he came home.

K. Here’s a story. with some details. girls — you’ll enjoy this.

Ryan had planned a day for us on January 14. I was looking forward to it! All i knew was we were going south of the border. cool. bring my passport. I also knew we were leaving at 7:30 am!!!! what kind of date starts at 730am?? this one! …but..the night before someting happened that rarely happens…SNOW! it snowed. and Ryans poor car rammed into a curb causing his allignment to get messed up.
so.
no problem. we’ll take my car! after dropping his car off at the auto shop we finally hit the road around 9. Got across the border without a wait. Stopped at our first stop on the trip – an espresso hut! ((i had never been to one before, and had hardly noticed them – well, mostly made fun of them as i walked into starbucks)) but they are cheaper and better than starbucks!
then we decided to go get gas. when we turned the car on, we couldn’t shift it out of park. i couldn’t believe this was happening! my car was wounded! all i could do was laugh. i remember i asked ryan “don’t you think this is kinda funnny?” he replied “in a dry humor sense”. baha. THankfully for christmas i was given a BCAA membership!
HELLLOOO PRACTICAL GIFT!
so i phoned my mom first, bcaa, aaa, and finally found out that they were sending a tow truck but it would take 2 hours to get there. so. we locked up the car and headed to barnes and noble. a ten minute walk.
the truck driver called two minutes before he got to the car. so. we literally RAN back to the car. what a sight to see !
AAA cant take us across the border. only TO the border. so after our 40 minute ride with greasy chip eating Rob, he dropped us as the gas station to wait for our next ride.
… finally we got across the border and dropped off at starbucks, where my stepdad David picked us up. Around 2 pm we are in my moms kitchen eating sandwiches. probably not how we picture the day to go. HA. so my mom lent us her car and told us to go have fun. I felt like i was in highschool again.
Ryan and i decided to make the most of it. we headed downtown vancouver. went to the sea wall in stanley park for the sunset, went for dinner at Steamworks in gastown, a lovely stroll through gastown, and then to a lookout point .
this is whre Ryan asked me to be his gifriend. i remember just saying “yes” that’s it. just, yes. with a perma smile.
our friend corey had a birthday party that night so we were able to go and see some close friends and celebrate. it was good. definitely memorable.

(what is it with me and cars? my car.. and now ryans car!!! oh noooo!)

anyways. yes. // I have a boyfriend. a really great one. really really.

I want you all to meet him, you’d like him. hes nice. hes generous. he’s thoughful. hes gentle.

\ i am excited for life. I am thankful!!!!
